The day started at 1215 with the a dribble of people arriving on time with the usual latecomers joining the throng.

As usual Garry Harris and Tim Walker got together and set up the sheets and the draw.

As usual there was to be two leagues of teams, with each team to play each other in their league on a round robin basis, with 2 games to play and all points to be added up to find the league leaders.

This year there would be a simple play off between the top of each league for the finals.

This meant six games for all except the finalists!

With the whole group present on the newly refurbished balcony, the draw was made, and there were hoots when Graham and jake were paired and also Keith and Jamie. A good touch!

Just beforeplay stared Graham Osmond spoke to everyone about the impending chages to mebership. This is expected to be officialy conveyed to members during nect week, starting in earnest in February.

Also it was decided to take a group photo of everyone taking part as shown below.

Play started soon thereafter.

As is the tradition (for some) the beer stated flowing long before the start, throughout the afternoon and then evening. The timings can be worked out from the pictures below, with the "team photographs" only being taken after some sweat was apparent from game play.

The play was as usual most entertaining, with a mixture of serious, not so serious and downright laughable play!

Everyone enjoyed themselves.

Eventually the two highest scores from both leagues were noted and the finals then played.

This left The Mitchells (Jake and Graham) to play Chris Reeve and Mark Knox.

Jake played his heart out with Graham making the occassional winning shots for them both to come out champions. This was a fitting results for what is probably the last Doubles Tournament that Graham will attend due to his imminent departure to Australia with his family.

Then it was off to the bar where the usual culprits enjoyed their customary excesses.

The food as ever was excellent (Lasagne, Chicken Curry, Chili Con Carne, Rice, Chips, Salad).

The presentations were made led by Garry Harris, with the trophies being handed out by the young Josh Mitchell.

As ususal there was a special thanks to the Sponsors; Graham Mitchel and Steve Papworth. Not only were the trophies and food provided, but a signifiant bar float was also provided. Also there was a great round of applause fro Graham with everybody knowing this was to be his last bash. The event will continue supported by Steve Papworth.

Lastly as indicated at the AGM the excess money obtained was presented to the Junior Section of the Club with a suggestion that further shirts be obtained. Dave Bradbury received the money, a huge £140 on behalf of the juniiors with the committment to using is wisly.

Shortly thereafter the winners trophy was filled with beer and passed around with Jake starting off the revelry. It climaxed with Simon Joyce drowning himself and finishing it all off in one large gulp!

A great day as usual was had by all.

The pictures below reflect the day's affairs.
