Over the years there has been a thriving Junior section of the club.
However due to falling membership, Junior sessions held on Saturday morning were stopped in late 1998.
At the AGM in 2002 renewed interest was shown by a number of the members for their children.
Junior coaching sessions at that time had already been taking place at the St. Neots Recreation centre since March on a Sunday by Dave Bradbury following "persuasion" from the then County Organiser Derek Reeves. In August 2002 they were transferred to Abbotsley as Saturday morning sessions (as had been intended).
During the suceeding years (through 2003-2012) the support has grown and grown with on average 20 youngsters taking part every Saturday.
The sessions were initially supported by Bernard Miles who has been coaching at the club every other week for the preceeding 20 years or so. He stopped coming following a broken ankle sustained Xmas 2004.
The sessions are run by Dave Bradbury (a qualified coach) supported by Tony Barker and Simon Joyce.
Tony took on the role of team coach for the U11 junior team in 2009-2010. In the current season (2011-2012) we now have three junior teams playing. Tony runs a team squad session on Tuesdays after school.
Last year the junior teams won the County U11s league (league 4) and the U15's league (league 3). This year we have now 3 teams playing in leagues 4, 3 1nd 2.
We pride ourselves in not turning anyone away, and are pleased that we have youngsters from 3 to 16 on our books.
